Staying Dry and Chic in the Rainy Season

Water-resistant outerwear for spring is no longer limited to the look of a G-man or woman. Although the black or tan long length trench coat worn by fictional and real agents are stylish, there are styles to fit every man, woman, and child.

Loose and Long

Often called dusters, the loosely fitting long trench coats are ideal for protecting your outfit from shoulders to legs. Equestrians and park rangers often wore dusters to protect their clothes from water and mud. To hide the stains, these came in neutral colors. They had a slit up the back for ease in riding.

Today, men and women wear long trench coats that come in a variety of colors and hues. Basic black is more formal, but brightly colored coats help to brighten up the gloom of a rainy day.

Smock or Poncho

Rain slickers, or smocks and ponchos made from waterproof materials are sporty and stylish, and best worn on warm spring days with a light rain falling.
